“Titans, go!” Nightwing yelled as the Titans charged into battle against the unsavory lot before them.

“Oh, you’ll be going some place all right, Titans,” the man with blonde hair said as he launched streams of fire at the Titan known as Argent. “You’re all going directly to Hell.”

A few hours ago….

Seven figures walked right into the heart of Times Square. They eyed the entire area before they cast off their jackets. The leading figure was of medium height with long blonde hair that ended in a pony tail. He had a shaggy yellow beard on his face and wore a red shirt with a Satanism sign on it. His attire was finished in red and blue leather pants with red boots. The woman next to him wore black spandex covered with a white halter-top. Her pants were black with diamond patterns that went down from the waist all the way to her ankles. The man next to her wore nothing but green trunks and had a brown Mohawk and matching beard with shining metallic skin. Upon his feet were black boots with gold B’s itched into them. Next to him was a woman who wore a fuchsia costume with a red and yellow hourglass stitched into the chest of the costume. She wore purple gloves, a matching mask, and boots.  Next to her were two fraternal twins who wore similar black and blue outfits. Yet, where the female had the dominating color of black, the male had a dominating color of blue. Upon their chests was an eye with a purple iris that seemed to give off some kind of hypnotic effect. The last figure wore an all blue outfit with a yellow bird on his chest with a red outline. His mask was blue and his eyes were a glowing red. In his hands were two guns that glowed at his touch.

“It’s time for this city to burn in the name of our father and the Society of Sin!” the leading man with long blonde hair and a shaggy beard said, as he launched streams of fire at the crowd. “Let I… Dr. Satanas and my disciples Hourwoman, Brass, Redbird, Oversight, Insight, and Lady Dragon show you the long errors of your ways.”

“They won’t listen to idle talk Satanas. Let brute force do what idle chat can’t,” Brass said as he started tossing cars around.

“Brass is right Satanas. Idle chat will not get us any closer to our goals than brute force will,” Hourwoman said as she aged the people with in the vicinity of her power.

“Hourwoman, you and Brass only continue to state the obvious,” Redbird said as he shot the oncoming police officers with his specially treated bullets.

“Let Oversight and Insight entice the problems of man,” the twins said in unison.

“Fine, you do that you freakish twosome, I will stick to my fists doing the talking for me,” Lady Dragon said as she kicked a bystander in the chops.

“Enough!” Dr. Satanas said as he cut off Times Square with his hellish fire powers, “I can sense with my empathic abilities that you people are panicked, yet, you seem to be waiting for something or someone to save you. Let them come, I say.  No force on Earth can defeat the Society of Sin.”

Just as Dr. Satanas finished that speech…

“I wouldn’t bet on that bozo,” a blue and black figure said as he descended from a plane hovering over the square. “You’re in Titan territory which means we’re taking you down.”

Now….

The Titans battled the seven members of the Society of Sin unevenly. With Beast Boy back at headquarters recovering from his scary experience on the behest of Nightwing and Raven having decided to not rejoin the Titans yet.

“We are out numbered by two and that seems to be giving these guys more of an edge then I would like,” Nightwing contemplated as his fists met with Lady Dragon’s.

Next to them Arsenal traded shots with Redbird each trying to disarm the other with their marksmanship.

“You’re a quick draw whoever you are, but I learned from the best,” Arsenal quipped as he dodged Redbird’s gunfire.

“Maybe son, but I have taught the best,” Redbird said as he nailed Arsenal with a glancing shot.

“Ugh!” Arsenal grunted as he ducked for cover. “Whoever this guy is, he means business.”

Across from them Starfire, Argent, and Cyborg battled Brass, Hourwoman, and Dr. Satanas.

“Take this freakshow!” Cyborg said as he gave Dr. Satanas a taste of his sonic blaster.

Dr. Satanas fell to his knees for a moment before sending waves of fire at the metallic muscle of the Titans. Cyborg grunted as the fire hit him and a warning signal blared. The signal warned Cyborg that his armor couldn’t take the heat much longer so using his sonic blaster he created a backlash that blew the fire on Satanas.

“How’s that hotshot?” Cyborg said.

“Why that tickled mortal,” Dr. Satanas said as he stood up and walked towards Cyborg.

Erstwhile, Argent and Starfire fought against Brass and Hourwoman. Every time they would knock Brass down or trap him, Hourwoman would rewind time and restore him. The two female Titans were quickly becoming exhausted.

Metropolis…

Inside of Clark Kent’s apartment,

“Are you sure about this Mae, I mean Kara*,” Clark said.

(* See the finale to Steve Crosby’s Superman run. Mae toyed with idea of naming herself Kara.)

“I’m sure Clark. I have to make a name for myself somewhere else. Perhaps I can become as a good of a hero as you are,” Kara said.

Clark smiled. “Kara, you already are. I wish you luck on your journey.”

Just as Supergirl was about to head out the TV fired up with an announcement about Manhattan.

“Breaking News from WGBS with a late breaking report,” Bill Warts said, “We turn to Joel Short, who is on the scene live from Times Square.”

“Thanks Bill. Live from GBS News, here in Manhattan, a super group calling themselves the Society of Sin has begun battle with the Titans. It’s apparent that this team has the Titans outnumbered seven to five. It’s unknown where Beast Boy or any of the other known members of Titans are presently. In fact we are surprised to see the Titans together again.”

“Joel, can you tell us how much damage has already been incurred in the battle?” Bill Warts asked.

“No, we are not able to get any closer because of flaming barricade that has cut off Times Square from outside interference. What we do know is that this small group of Titans dropped in a few moments ago and there have been sounds of tremendous explosions,” Joel replied.

Clark started to pull his shirt open, but felt a powerful gust of wind blowing from his apartment window. He turned to find Kara gone.

“I guess this is the opportunity she has been looking for,” Clark said to himself.

Back at Times Square….

The Titans were gaining some ground with their dark opposites, yet, with the numbers advantage, the Society of Sin slowly began to whittle down the heroes.

“They’re backing us into a corner,” Nightwing thought to himself, “If we’re going to survive this we have to find some way of putting them down hard and fast.”

As Nightwing finished that thought, Lady Dragon closed in for the attack. The villainess threw a sidekick, which, the former boy wonder blocked and struck back with a palm strike.

“You’re good lady, but I was trained by the best,” Nightwing said as he took a defensive stance a few meters away from her.

“You’re not the only one who has been trained by the best, boy,” Lady Dragon replied.

Above them a sonic boom rippled by and snuffed out Dr. Satanas’ flame. The mad occultist screamed in rage as he noticed a familiar insignia lowering from the sky.

“Damn you, Supergirl. Why must you super fools always interfere?” Satanas asked.

“I guess us super heroes don’t know how to keep our nose out of other people’s business,” Supergirl said, “Now why don’t you give up peacefully.”

“No, for the glory of Trigon, we will not give in to the likes of you,” Satanas spat as he lunged at Supergirl only to be batted aside.

“Trigon?” Nightwing said as he knocked Lady Dragon silly with his escrima stick, “Why am I sensing a pattern here?”

“Is this Trigon a friend of yours?” Supergirl asked as she helped Cyborg knock out Brass.

“No way,” Starfire said as she blasted Hourwoman, “He is evil incarnate.”

“There’s never a dull moment in our lives SG. You can quote me on that,” Arsenal quipped as judo flipped Redbird onto Oversight.

“Pucker up pumpkin,” Argent said as she busted Insight upside the head with one of her plasma constructs.

As the final member of the Society of Sin fell the Titans gathered in the midst of the ruined Times Square somewhat victorious.

“Well that was the last of these clowns. Let’s hope they get nice comfy cells where they are going, so they won’t be bothering us again,” Arsenal said as he wrapped up his gunshot wound with his torn sleeve.

“Thanks for the help, Supergirl. I think every one echo’s my sentiments when I say you’ll make a fine Titan,” Nightwing said as he shook Supergirl’s hand.

“I-I don’t know what to say,” Supergirl stammered.

“Say yes, SG, we could definitely use the extra muscle,” Arsenal said as he patted her on the shoulder.

“Yeah, and it would be nice to have another girl around,” Argent replied

“I agree with my friends,” Starfire said as she wiped the sweat from her brow.

“Alright, I’m in, I…” Supergirl said only to be cut off by the sudden appearance of Raven.

“My friends, you are needed,” Raven said as she cast her cloak over them.

The Titans disappeared in a puff of smoke leaving onlookers startled.

We give the East Coast Titans a break while Bette Kane tries to reassemble the Titans West in a tale simply called, “Divided We Stand”

Titan Talkback:

Titans West? Is he nuts? Why is he assembling that team? Or who or what is Titans West? That is probably the reaction from reading this. Titans West for those that do not know, in Titans history can simply put as the West Coast Avengers parallel to Titans. They never really stick together for very long and the cast is usually made of members you wouldn’t find on the main team. When I thought about doing Titans West, let’s just say I had an interesting idea for that I felt was too hard to pass up. If things go well with the story expect to see Titans West to appear in some form or another.
